Human Dignity Does modern culture value human life the way it should? Is all human life valuable? Is it okay to assist in suicide if the person has a terminal illness? What does it say about us when we legally execute someone? Are we effected in ways we might not be aware of? Does God look at people living in poverty as less valuable? Since Jesus was immaculately conceived, should all Christians believe that life begins in the mind of God even before conception? The Catholic Church is opposed to the death penalty, abortion, artificial birth control, and euthanasia. Do these positions make sense in the modern world? Below are three documents that will give you a better understanding of this issue and why the Catholic Church takes the position that it does: Dignitatis Humanae - Declaration of Religious Freedom Humanae Vitae - On the Regulation of Birth Evangelium Vitae - On the Value and Inviolability of Human Life |
